Commissioner Hutchinson..Republican or Democrat ?
The following listing from the Broward Republican website, (Browardgop.org ..dated today), was sent to Tim Smith's Fort Lauderdale with this question: ........
Yo Tim,.... why is Cindi Hutchinson's name still listed as a local Republican Elected Official in the Republican's website, when I read month's ago that she has switched back to the Democrat Party that she was initially a member of ?..... I figure that 's a fair question ! ...Cindi, will you respond?.....

She is a true survivor. She wants to keep a job in the City of Ft Lauderdale. The elected position is a career to her. and the wave of votes today are for Democrats. She is in this for herself, and in my view, many votes she made were for her best interest, and we do not need a Mayor that places her interest before the Residents.

Maybe the Republican Party didn't fix its website. Kind of a simple explanation when you think about it. BTW, the mayor's race -- like all Fort Lauderdale races -- is nonpartisan.

Sadly, this race should be non partisan but looking at Cindi's website, espicially the scanned in ticket stub to a democratic event she is clearly trying to fool the voters into thinking she is a republican.

Bob is right about the simple mechanics of the website. I don't think this should be an issue in the Mayoral race and every candidate should stand on their merit and on what their record shows. Both Hutchinson and Seiler have changed parties in their career - no big deal - let's see what they show us in this race and what their plans are....it better be good, creative and damn well something to create a better quality of life and service than we have today!

I and many others think there is a big difference between Sieler switching from Independent to Democrat many years ago and Cindi's change from R to D 5 minutes before filing for Mayor. Cindi was an active Republican until a few months ago. She is nothing more then an opportunist.

Is she a Donkey or an Elephant? Will the truth ever come out? I wonder....
I do not give a damn if our new Mayor is a donkey or an elephant ~ just be honest with the citizens within your city, be fair to everyone within the city, & bring our city to where it should be not where it has been traveling the past few years.
My vote is still Seiler! (Cindi I believe has to many issues for her own purpose & not for the good of our city)

I feel bad for those condo owners especially now that they boat people hired Steve Gaskill to work for them. Of course not as a lobbiest that would be too obvious since he is Cindi's campaign manager.

From Tim Smith ...Updates ! .... First, I received a comment from this story from a reader that said that Seiler had been a President of the Young Republicans Club........I checked it out and it is NOT TRUE ... Jack was never a republican. He registered as an Independent when he originally registered in 1981, but switched to the Democratic Party in the late 1990's........Also, I called the Republican Party headquarters to try and verify that they have Hutchinson listed as a Republican incorrectly, which I believe to be the facts, and they said they would check it out right away and remove it if it is there incorrectly ......Tim

First Tim I want to thank you for all your hard work in giving the citizens of Ft. Lauderdale the chance to voice their voices right here.
Second, I campaigned for Seiler when he first ran for House Representative for District 92 which he was a Democratic than.
As far as Cindi is concerned, she is a lovely person but I do not care if she is a D/R ~ she will not get my vote for Mayor. I truthfully do not feel that she is ready for that step in her political career! Maybe her political career, but than we wil all know come this coming election.

The last thing Fort Lauderdale needs is a Republican cleaning lady as its mayor. What a freaking joke. Are we going to appoint the Homeless Times vendor on Broward Blvd. serve as the Director of Tourism next?

Anything is possible in the city of Ft. Lauderdale anymore!
The citizens within our city come this election must vote who will be our next Mayor & hopefully the best one wins.
Truthfully, I do not think it would be Cindi! (just my opinion) But than who would have thought Naugle got in when Tim Smith ran for the seat? What a disappointment that was!

What a bigoted and hateful assertion. What does being a cleaning lady have to do with anything! It is a business just like any other and you my friend are just being nasty. It is non partisian race so stop the rehtoric - the most important issue is who would best serve the city. It is exactly this kind of crap that chases away good candidates....You would need to look at someone's record as a politician and while we don't always agree, she has done some very good things for this city as well as some that were not in my opinion. Either way, she is a nice woman as Trixie said and doesn't deserve to be mistreated for doing her best.....the election will support the best candidate - why don't you spend your time and attention to telling the candidates what we need to move forward - not this kind of hateful statements. i don't plan to vote for her but she doesn't deserve this either.

Comments like the above are most likely planted by Albbetta or Gaskill or Cindi herslef to try and make Jack look bad. The have been going negative since day one. Her supporters do this crap on the sentinal blogs all the time. This same group did this same exact stuff to Jim Scott last election.
