Mayoral Candidate Steve Rossi - he's looking at you !
He's Steve Rossi, and he's a member of an elite club; "Candidates for Fort Lauderdale Mayor" . There are two others besides Steve that are already declared, Commissioner Cindi Hutchinson and Representative Jack Seiler. And at least two others are exploring getting in the race, local businessman Earl Rynerson, and former City Commissioner John Aurelius.
Steve would be one of the relatively total unknowns in this mayoral race, if it weren't for bus benches, bus shelters and billboards . As you see here, Steve's serious looking mug is staring at us daily at any number of intersections around the City, the County, even the State. His firm estimates that his likeness resides in over 100 locations, including billboards as far away as Sebring and Key West. It's a big part of his marketing strategy for his Law Firm, and Rossi figures it might just serve his mayoral efforts as well.

And Rossi will need the additional exposure, and more, as the other two declared candidates are very well known politicos. Undaunted, Rossi says that might be a positive for him, as the country "seems to be in a mood for change".
I spoke with Steve by phone yesterday in a tightly scheduled phone conference. He appears extremely organized and disciplined, and apologized for calling 11 minutes late. He schedules his day like a surgeon, and stopped a few times during the interview to leave himself reminders to check on issues that we talked about.
But with all the structure, Steve isn't all that opinionated. He say's he likes meeting people and "asking them what they think". He says he is a "sponge" for information.
He has formed an opinion on current Mayor Jim Naugle, (who hasn't ?). He says that he doesn't know him personally, but that " it would be nice to have a mayor that doesn't create controversy". On City Manager Gretsas, he says he doesn't know enough yet to comment.
Steve says he is starting his campaign in earnest soon, and expects to be at all the usual forums, where citizens will actually be able to put a voice to the bus bench pictures!

Tim-
This is off topic but I wanted to ask you about the Sheriff's race and I did'nt know how to contact you. I enjoy your blog and have read your newspaper articles; you call it like you see it. I have been impressed with Scott Isreal he is the only candidate who has come to my Civic Assoc. and he was the only candidate with a booth at Pridefest, I have heard from friends that he is the Dem front runner. Whats YOUR take on the race ?? Sorry to use this method I hope you catch it when you moderate. Thanks for trying to keep these pols honest!

I strongly disagree with all the nice comments about ROSSI. I hired him because of his experience and an unfortunate ticket
I received from Macy's. If you are interested I will email you the details.
ROSSI led me too believe he could handle the case with a phone call or two, back in June. I am completely disabled and
it takes great concentration too write and 5 days out of 7 I am BED BOUND.
I faxed all info 3 TIMES + Faxed and because of the employee turnover, he said} I wrote his office over 20 times, I called, no response. Court date was a
joke it seemed he had a nice visit with the Judge but I do not belong to the gOOD OLE RICH BOY CLUB! hE DID ASK FOR Dismissal of charges, he did not answer my questions if Broward Sheriff office was culpable for injuring me, he did not deliver the tape from the Officer call he charged me for. I am State certified
100% disabled with severe fibromyalgia and Dementia! I purchased $175.00 worth of clothing but forgotten I had slipped a 75% T-shirt on earlier in front of the clerk. I rarely get out of the house by myself and my driving is very limited but my Service Dog had to go the Vet.
I was still wearing the shirt when I paid for my items and Blood sugar dropped and I was dizzy, confused and ILL! I payed for my items and told the clerk i was tii ILL to try them on. I needed to get to my car to stabilize my Sugar and let my Service dog do her job!
I was detained over two hours by Macy's I begged them to retrieve my dog, although I had left the car running and the day was cool. I asked over & over for a manager, I told them how Ill I was, But I fully complied. When Officer Saito arrived he told them to watch so I could not run, I Informed him I am disabled, he checked my record and found out I do not have one & got more belligerent, He went too put hand cuffs on so I would not RUN! HELLO DISABLED almost in seizure by now! I told him I had just had a surgical procedure on my neck and I was not able to resist and HAND cuffs would injure me. HE YELLED he would throw me in jail and put my dog in the pound for asking if HANDCUFFS were extreme! He let me out in a back parking lot bruised, nauseous, scared, exhausted and lost, DEMENTIA! I was crying & shaking I ask where my car was, He said North. I walked morethat day in bad shape from an OFFICER that is TOO Protect and SERVE! FUUNY! ROSSI showed to court(initially he said he could take care of it with PHONE CALLS) TOO BUSY?
AY COURT his best job was COMMunity service for 30 days, I AM DISABLED I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TOO WORK since 2004!
I am angry at Macy's for entrapment, I am angry the Broward Sherriff was ruthless and injured me AND angry with Rossi for not caring or fighting for me or coming through with ANYTHING HE PROMISED. Mayor NO WAY! MAybe President he is as bad as BUSH!. I have ALL documentation & I am filing with Federal Disabilities unit.

Steve Rossi may be a member of an "elite club", but he does not care about his clients that are disabled and not able to afford his fees. He does not keep his promises, he does not read client information. Information I had too send too his office 3 times by email and 2 by fax. AND he still did not understand I AM DISABLED! How do I do community service of 30 hours when 5 out of 7 days I am bed bound?
If my small case is any indication of how he will run the Mayor office, We are in big trouble!
I hold him in the same esteem I do as
President Bush, our lying deceitfull Sherriffs office and Corporate Thieves that have million dollar bonus's and steal employee pensions.
How are we supposed to respect anyone or anything as the rich get richer and the rest of us Plebeians try too keep our lives together?
Disdainfully Yours,
Michelle Certonio

When I was well I donated my time and talent to benefit our community, A long list: Donated sound system to the GLCC and DJ'd and MC'd any time a worthy group needed to make money. Even a benefit for Stork, remember him?
I can not count how many Aids related events but the last event was for the Rob & Blue Initiative.
