Commissioner Rodstrom Interview
Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Charlotte Rodstrom has agreed to an interview.
And I suspect this will be a first for Fort Lauderdale. An interview by blog!

Commissioner Rodstrom talking to neighborhoods
I am sending Commissioner Rodstrom the following questions by way of this blog post. She has agreed to send me her answers, and I will share them with you when she does.
If you think I missed an important question, add it as a comment, or send it to me privately at Tim@TimSmith.com. The Interview follows:
1.) So Commissioner, you have really been working hard for your District. You have had some successes, and some failures. What are you the proudest of accomplishing so far, and what disappoints you the most?
2.) You are the newest member of the Commission, but after 2 years on the job, is it everything you thought it would be? If not, what would you change?
3.) There has been criticism that you and your husband John should not both be in elected positions at the same time. Do you think that criticism is valid?
4.) During your campaign, you were quite critical of the development community. Now that our economy has slowed and Real Estate values have plummeted, has your opinion on development changed?
5.) Would you comment on the performance of the City Manager in your opinion?
6.) Are you running for re-election? If so, when do you expect to announce that?
7.) Will you be endorsing any mayoral candidate?
8.) Is there anything you'd like to add?
thanks, our readers anxiously await your responses ! thanks, Tim Smith

To Commissioner Rodstrom. I would like you to rate the Police Department response to your District 's crime concerns over the past two years (not just in recent efforts but over the two years.??)

How about this question for Commissioner Rodstrom? Do you find it difficult to represent District II, probably the most diverse district in wealth and ethnicity?

As Rodstrom is not my district commissioner, I am wating to here her answers to a couple of the ? that Tim asked her. I cannot wait to see her answers to ? 5 & 7.
Dettman's ? to Rodstrom should be very interesting to!

Ms. Rodstrom, do you have any plan for some economic boost to the city? The systematic denial to the development community through your concerted efforts has stopped most of the planned growth identified in the existing master plans throughout the city, however you have not offered an alternative to that industry loss, the loss of jobs associated with it and sever curtailment of progress. What were your plans to offset this piece of our stable economy and how are you going to achieve that?

When reviewing the agenda and its backup, do you consult staff for questions and answers before the meeting? You appear to always be reading from notes that have questions, however you don't seem to have been informed and ask questions that are in the backup that even the public reads? Is staff not keeping you informed?

I have to wonder if Commissioner Rodstrom will answer these questions without her husbands input.
Tim's queston #3 ~ cannot wait to hear her answer to this (the truth & nothing but the truth)

I wonder if she will answer them at all.

Well, it has been 4 days now. I wonder if Rodstrom intends to answer Tim's questions as she agreed to. So far, it seems as though she is following Carlton's ways of replying. (6 weeks down the road or better yet ~ never)
Let's just see what happens.

question for her--posed any way---Bruce's resignation?

Does she regret one of her early decisions to have loyal and hard working volunteers ousted from city hall as an act of campaign retaliation?

Time's Up Commissioner Rodstrom.....seems like you are as responsive to this as all things. Late, unprepared and dismissive of your constituents. And oh by the way, you may have been elected into a single member district - but you vote on citywide issues...you performance has been very disappointing. Unable to build consensus among your commission, unable to work with staff without talking poorly about them, and allowing your bad humor and sharp tongue to show from the dais.....glad we have the chance to let you know what your report card looks like since you are constantly grading others.
