Picture Caption Contest Winners!

There are WINNERS in the Picture Caption Contest !  .... And I must say, we do have some very witty readers! .....Quite the comedians!

We had 20 readers submit 27 Captions. I had trouble figuring out how to pick the winners, so I went to a tried a true source, my wife Cindy.

I read Cindy each caption entry as they came in and put the laugh meter on her. Cindy has a great sense of humor (after all, she's stayed with me for the last 30 years!). Here are the pics again with the winning captions that made Cindy chuckle the best. You can read all the captions by scrolling down to the original post and clicking on "view comments". See if you agree with our picks!

Don't worry everyone, Jack Seiler is not the only one who drinks the love potion. Dean has been drinking the same potion for years. It is time for new, fresh, but experienced leadership. I see that Trentalis supporters are running around (FTL GUY)on this and the Sun Sentinel blogs saying that Dean should be "anointed" as the first Gay Mayor of Fort Lauderdale. This is exactly why we need new and fresh leadership, Dean had his chance and was nothing more than a lap dog for Gretsas. As everyone knows there is only one candidate in this race that has called for the resignation of the City Manager. It is my hope that the people will see that this city needs more than career politicians to serve as mayor. While Dean is a fine man he had his chance and its time for a fresh new approach with a candidate that can bring change.

    Mr. Rynerson

How dare you speak of Dean in such unflattering tones. What have you done for this city since you moved here or as some have whispered ran out of San Francisco?
Is it not true that you have never voted in a City election since you moved here?
Dean has worked hard to do his best for the City. He only stepped down because his father was ill. If you truly cared and wanted to see a gay Mayor you would not be doing all you can to split the vote. This crusade against the City Manager is a joke. The Mayor has one vote and can't fire anyone. I knew sooner or later once Dean became the frontrunner you would attack him and kill all hope for Fort Lauderdale to finally have its first gay Mayor.
By the way I have been to your tile store and your product line is dated and tacky.

First of all Earl has the elite tile shop in all the area which is why he is so successful business person. I read all about those poor people who lost their money in The Waves condos because of Dean, so business sense is not one of Dean's strong suits.

Dean has did nothing while in office except use the position to help is lawyer office. He never took the lead on gay issues while there. As the first person on here said, Dean had his chance and did not deliver. It is time for new leadership and that leadership will be Earl who WILL BE THE FIRST GAY MAYOR OF FORT Lauderdale, NOT DEAN.

Earl you and the people you have write for you on this blog are losers. Your campaign is nothing more than a joke. All you do is go negative. You call our beautiful city a backwater town. You oppose cost of living raises for our hard working city employees. You grandstand about firing the city manager when you become mayor when you have no power to do so. You lie claiming that Comm. Hutchinson supports you and that you RAISED the most money. You babble on about giving Naugle a fruit cake which you then failed to do. Everyone in the gay community see through your act Earl. You are in this race to get publicity for your tile store. This economy must be hurting you huh? Be careful about pointing fingers Earl you know what they say when you do this "you point fingers back at yourself". Rumor has it you didn't leave San Francisco because of Fort Lauderdale's great need for a tile store.

The above commentary shows the problem with this race. The Mayor of Fort Lauderdale is about all citizens not just gays. Gays are an important and integral part of our City but not the only part. This race should be about electing a Mayor who wants to make the city better for ALL residents not just being known as "Fort Lauderdale's First Gay Mayor".

Hey Dean how about all those people who lost their deposits because you gave the developer of the Waves project the money before they even did any real work. Tell the truth that is why you really stepped down.

I have lived here all my life and a proud Flying L. It is because of tireless leaders like Dean that young gay men like myself can live in such a tolerant and great city. Dean can only make it better as Mayor. I dont even know this Earl guy and I have lived here all my life.

Best of luck Dean I will be signing up to help you out tomorrow.

To the campaign supporters who have shown their support on here many thanks. The recent debate on here just shows that there has been a shift in support towards us in the gay community and it has scared the heck out of our opponents. We came to this country to leave a place where people were "anointed" their positions. Despite what someone may think they are not going to be anointed as the first Gay Mayor of Fort Lauderdale. Many of you got my email this week, we are opening an office and starting to walk after the first of the year, come join us.

Remember what Fort Lauderdale needs is fewer Masquerade Balls and more leadership. Most importantly, no one likes a quitter. That is why this campaign is about Leadership and Seeing the Job through until the end.

P.S. Clad tile had is best year ever thanks to all for the support. All deposits for orders where properly credited to the customers who gave them as well.

    Happy Holidays.

As usual more talk about who is most worthy to be the "first gay lauderdale mayor". Wake up, the problems in this town are not due to who is straight or gay but problems like the economy, foreclosures and crime to name a few. Anytime now we can start discussing those issues it would be nice.

Marge and others are right: enough with the mud-slinging and personal attacks on other candidates. They are NO LONGER factors we consider in making decisions on candidates...other than as a negative about the mudslinger for wasting our time.

As a candidate, you need to clearly a) identify our most serious problems and b) articulate your proposals for solutions to these problems that will be of most benefit to the citizens of Fort Lauderdale. In doing so, your path to success will be determined by HOW WELL YOU INSPIRE YOUR FELLOW CITIZENS TO VOTE FOR YOUR IDEAS!

So get out of the gutter now or be forever relegated to it.

Amen George Q! Candidates and candidate supporters - Stop acting like school girls, it's a waste of time and nothing good ever comes out of it. Focus on positive things for the future of this city and show us Why you should be mayor! When somebody slings mud at you, well sometimes a nice mud bath is good for the skin and not necessary to throw it back!
