Who's Winning Mayor and Commissioner Races?
It's what everyone wants to know....... Who's ahead? .........Who's going to win?

The Finish Line is in sight. The Primary is only about 4 weeks away! And only one of the four Fort Lauderdale Mayoral Candidates and only one Commissioner Candidate from each District will cross the line first.
Will the favorite win?
....... that's the safe bet..... but how about the one that puts
in the hard work.......keeps on going ... never gives up !
.......and then there's the longshot, he may not look like the winner, but anything is possible in politics!
.........
...... and never count out the unusual candidates, sometimes they draw the affections of the voters!
................ Since everybody's wondering if anyone has an edge, we decided to try and find out !
So we're about to conduct a Voter Poll . This Friday, after the Candidate Qualifying period is closed, this blog will be calling 100's and 100's of the City's Super Voters! .....Please answer the phone!
We've had a professional company prepare the survey, and they tell me that it should be quite accurate. We will ask those that almost always vote in City Elections who they are currently leaning to, and why. We will try and find out if their support is firm or flimsy. We will ask if they've even heard of the candidates! Should be quite revealing.
We will be giving you the results early next week!. Can you wait?

Gremlin says save your call. Seiler will win the Mayor's derby and District 1 will re-elect Christine Teel who is far and away the most qualified candidate. Her interests are multi-faceted and not one dimensional (one note). At least that's Gremlin's opinion!

I agree with you that Jack Seiler will win the Mayor's seat. He has my vote!
However, I disagree with you with Teel being re-elected, I believe Bruce Roberts will win this seat.
Christine reminds me of Betty White, always have.

If Seiler wins, we will have Naugle redux. Seiler will continue to tax and spend, tax and spend, tax and spend, until there is nothing left in Fort Lauderdale. Should he be elected, he will preside over the bankruptcy of Fort Lauderdale.

Dear Neighbors and Friends,
We have a clear and proven choice for Beach Commissioner.
You would think, after constructing more than 135 high-rise, high-density massive condos and hotels on a narrow, fragile strip of precious beach, that our politicians would say, enough is enough! A1A is well on its way of becoming nothing more than a copy-cat version of Miami and Hallandale; a wall of glass and cement. Our Intra-coastal Waterway is not far behind - thereby creating a canyon of buildings upon buildings upon building.
We need to work together again to save our beach by voting on Feb. 10th for Charlotte Rodstrom. A vote for Steven Glassman will result in more of the same. This is why developers and their friends, attorney’s and lobbyists support Glassman.
Charlotte Rodstrom appointed Glassman to the Planning & Zoning Board because he supported her ideas of controlled and smart growth as he had stated many times and such ideas were later written into the central beach alliance's goals (his organization). Well, here are the facts:
Massive Buildings Rodstrom-VOTE Glassman- VOTE
City Commission Planning & Zoning
Orion-18 stories NO YES
Trump-24 stories NO YES
Hilton-25 stories NO YES
Ocean Wave-22 EVENTUALLY NO YES
El-Ad Banyan-19 NO YES
Fairwinds/Irelands Inn-22 NO YES
Bahia Mar : see below:
And coming soon, the Bahia Mar project consisting of 4 buildings with heights ranging from 235 to 240 feet from ground level to the highest points along Seabreeze. Fifteen acres of this land is owned by the City (that's us). The developer wants to build private residences/co-ops on this land as well as construct two more hotels (like we don't already have too many). Sounds like the Palazzo Las Olas fiasco all over again. No widening of roads mentioned to accommodate the additional traffic. So what did Glassman do? He encouraged people to view the developer's web site to see all the pretty pictures and the next meeting of his organization is at the Bahia Mar hotel tonight. He violated his own CBA organization's goals, he failed to represent the commissioner who appointed him.
But Charlotte made a campaign promise to stop this kind of construction and over-development; she made the tough decisions and informed developers: come and develop human-size buildings, preserve what is best and unique about Ft. Lauderdale.
