Mayoral Candidate Rynerson Blasts Back!

Over the last few weeks, Fort Lauderdale Mayoral Candidate Earl Rynerson has been the target of an e-mail campaign surrounding some of his personal information.

Seems one of the other "camps" did a thorough Public Records request, and found what they perceived to be juicy negative information. They have been sending it to any and all News Outlets they could find.  Former Sun-Sentinel columnist Buddy Nevins, through his blog,  published the info, but  I felt that a lot of the information was personal in nature and therefore not appropriate to post.

Who is responsible for the "leaked" information is still a mystery, because the sender has been disguising  his or her identity.

Rynerson says he has had enough of it and has just sent in this response ...... Here's Earl! ...

I wanted to comment on the recent postings I have been hearing about me. First, my financial matters. In the 35+ years I have had credit cards, and the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars that have gone through my accounts, I have had two (2) disagreements with card companies, both of which occurred 5-6 years ago,

One was for an African trip where deposits were made 3 months before the trip. Travel accommodations had in fact not been made and a repurchase had to be made overseas. Because the original deposits were made earlier than 60 days prior, the credit card agency has not (to date), been willing to reimburse me. The second was for a bad car repair, (the car breaking down on the way back from the repair company). Even though both of these amounts constituted a relatively small amount ($5-6K), I felt that the principal of the issue necessitated me to take a stand.

In both these instances, I felt that proper service was not provided, and I disputed (and will continue to dispute) these two charges. It is important to know how I feel about issues like this because, as Mayor, I intend to look at the City’s swollen budget closely, and will make sure that the public gets the service they should be getting for the taxpayer dollar spent. If I find that’s not the case, I will be as tenacious there as I am in my personal life.

I have also heard reports of some “spicy” Internet sites being talked about. I personally feel that what two consensual adults do (or don’t do) in the privacy of their own home is no one’s business but their own, and I will protect those rights, both for myself and for others. We as a city have gone through several years of an Administration trying to impose morals and judgments onto others, to the detriment of everyone. I feel that we need to stop trying to force our beliefs, opinions and morals on other people and allow our city to become more progressive. We need to embrace the diversity that we as a community have.

Now, let’s get back to the issues that really matter to voters, the Budget, Property Taxes and future economic vitality of our City. Thank you!

Lt. Colonel Earl Rynerson

Tim, the word on the street is that it's all coming from the infamous Judy Stern and what's his face.

Just as Fort Lauderdale is tired of Naugle, don't you think it's time we got rid of Judy Stern? Perhaps she can go work for Rod Blagojevich. I can think of other things for her that involve a split rail, a bit of tar, and some feathers.

Dear Mr. or FORMER Lt. Colonel Earl Rynerson (as your not active military you should properly list yourself as "former")

I have been a Fort Lauderdale resident for almost 30 years. I am been an avid and oft time amused watcher of Fort Lauderdale politics. Until recently I was a big fan of Former Commissioner Smith. Comm. Smith I am sorry but it just appears you have a bias towards this candidate and seem to coddle him and not ask tough questions.

First, I have worked for the Clerk of Courts for 20 years in the County Court Division. I have read the documents about you. You have judgments against you from American Express and a Mr. Feliciano. I am not a lawyer but I know that means you challenged the claims against you and lost in Court, causing you to owe these folks money. I find it interesting and quite convenient that you fail to acknowledge the judgment in California that you owe to Mr. Feliciano. Tim, in all fairness you should ask him about this.

Second, I was offended when you have referred to my city as a backwater town. I am more offended by your comment as to the $5-6 thousand dollar credit card debt as a "relatively small amount". Maybe for such a rich man as yourself this is a small amount but for me that is 4 mortgage payments, 1/8 of my annual salary. Comments like that confirm that you have no ability to understand the needs of the average citizen of this city. Sadly Tim, I remember when you stood up for the little guy. Again this person can make a comment like this and you give him a pass.
Finally, I see that you do not deny that you engage in the sex acts described in the documents. True, what goes on in one's bedroom should be their business. On the other hand if one makes the choice to run for elected office what goes on in the bedroom is out there for public consumption. Ask Former Comm. Danzinger that one.
Just like when people think of Mayor Naugle they think of homosexual sex at parks etc they would associate you with the sex acts, bondage, etc that public documents have shown you to prefer. From Kennedy, to Clinton, Danzinger to Naugle to take the position that what happens in the bedroom should stay there is not realistic.
Tim, I hold out hope you remember the fighting spirit that made you so beloved and stop giving this guy a pass.

Save us from petty bureaucrats. Twenty years as a toady in the office of the Clerk of Courts. OMG! I have dealt with you and your co-workers. You are the laziest, most slovenly group of individuals I have ever seen. You have no motivation to work or be efficient.

I have seen you waste tax payer's time, talking with your co-workers, while the people whose taxes pay your salaries had to stand in line, waiting for you to get off your fat ass and do your job.

You have the amazing gall to spread lies about a candidate. We see through your lies, bureaucrat.

Rynerson's business approach scares the hell out of you because you will have to WORK when he is elected mayor.

You said it all in your last sentence. I'm sorry but the Mayor of Fort Lauderdale has no power over the Office of the Clerk Courts.

I should change my name to "tired of idiots," but it seems that one of the idiots has taken that handle. Our city budget is BLOATED like a tick engorged on blood.

Rynerson is the ONLY CANDIDATE that has an interest, to say nothing of the ability, in controlling taxing and spending.

I have seen no bias by Tim Smith for any candidate and certainly not this one - for those that know Tim well - I would suggest that he has long encouraged all residents of the city to become involved, participate and yes - run for office to make a difference (he is famous for his letters to community leaders asking them to run).

The message from Rynerson is his side of a story - nothing more or less. It is presented to allow the reader to determine whether they are comfortable with the answers or left with further questions.

We need not just good leadership - but strong leadership...is this the guy - well frankly, NO, for me but I appreciate Smith continuing to post both sides of the story so we can be aware of the caliber of candidates asking for a vote.

Keep up the great work Tim!

Dear former Lt. Colonel Earl Rynerson,

Please stop referring to yourself as Lt. Colonel Earl Rynerson. If you insist on using your rank, then please preface is with former, since you’re no longer an active duty officer. I question how the boys in blue must feel about you running as an openly gay, porno loving, non-credit bill paying Lt. Colonel????

    They must be so proud.

General Colin Powell is ALWAYS referred to as General Powell -- NEVER retired General Powell.

General Tommy Franks is ALWAYS referred to as General Franks -- never as retired General Franks.

Lt. Colonel Rynerson is correct to honor the title and his rank by being referred to as Lt. Colonel Rynerson.
