and the Survey Says, ...huh?
District 1......
.... the Election Poll Results are in ! .....
It's where the haves live. No Poverty. Very little crime.
District 1 covers the northern portion of the City, and has neighborhoods with names like "Bay Colony", "Imperial Point", and "Coral Ridge Country Club Estates".
So who's running strong Tim ?, you ask....
Well, as I've already mentioned in earlier posts, Candidate Nobody is also ahead in District 1.
I can say that because our data shows that more than half of those "Super Voters" that were polled chose either "no opinion" or "don't know them", on one or more of the candidates.
But there are also some trends and interesting tidbits at work in District 1.
First , it's clear that the incumbent, Commissioner Christine Teel is the most well known name on the ballot. She came in with a healthy 81% name recognition of District I voters. But former Police Chief Bruce Roberts, who was in the news quite often himself over the years, polled a respectable name recognition of 62%. The third candidate, local condo lawyer Inger Garcia, trailed way back at 35%.
The findings in District 1 were somewhat unusual.
Commissioner Teel had more "Hard Negatives" .This is a response of 1 ( on a scale of 1 to 5). Teel was at 24%, Roberts at 6%, and Garcia at 22%.
Conversely, although less people were willing or able to rate Garcia at all, of the ones that did, she won the "Hard Positives" ( 5 on a scale of 1 to 5) with 33%, compared to Roberts at 19%, and Teel at 14%.
Roberts blew away the field with a generally positive rating of nearly 90%, but Teel still had the highest percentage of "persuadable" voters, coming in at 43%, compared to Roberts at 37%, and Garcia at 11%.
It was difficult, if not impossible to draw strong conclusions in this race, as the numbers often seemed at cross purposes, but it seems apparent that Teel has some explaining to do in order to be reelected.
.................. OK, I'll be back with the District II results real soon!.....

Tim, How many people were in your telephone poll?

Hard positives? So Garcia maxed the scale of positives, but Roberts luke-warmed them. Interesting. Either way, they will fire Gretsas.

Gremlin thinks Commissioner Tim needs a better polling instrument. This poll says a lot about nothing and actually fails to give a clue as to where the District 1 race is going. It does paint a semi-rosy picture for Chief Roberts but this may be an inherent prejudice in the "slant" of the instrument. Oh heavens, a slanted poll .... Nooooo!

Gremlin? - Curmudgeon should be your name....you can't see anything but negatives if the data doesn't go your way? Why don't you read how the polls were staged and understand the statistics....perhaps the higher math is too hard! It doesn't look skewed just reflects the displeasure of the community with government in general!

Gremlin, I agree with you. Telephone poles are obsolete, since all modern utilities are buried. This particular poll should also be buried, since nothing could resurrect the truth herein.

Great Job TIm ! ..your efforts are doing a great public service , helping the Voter to be more informed ....and a place for them to read comments, and be a more informed Voter when they cast their Vote. Thank You

Well I live in Coral Ridge and last Saturday at a neighbor's BAR-B-Q politics came up and NONE of my neighbors have ever heard of Inger, most have met Christine because she attends our HOA meetings and of those who knew Bruce they liked him. But...most liked him as a chief, not a commissioner! Most people said until someone makes a case to fire Teel, she will get our votes!

Guess you like the status quo...she hasn't been a bad commissioner to her district but the rest of the city finds her to be somewhat elitist. All of these commissioners are suppose to have the entire city in mind when they decide how we spend our money or decide projects....they shouldn't only get the votes that put them in her district....
As to Roberts - he has experience working with every department of the city on a daily basis as well as the police and as you look at the budget - one of the larger portions of the City's budget was administered by him. He could easily serve as an informed and viable commissioner for that District as well. Don't stop asking questions and looking at history....

Donna, It's a great pity that you have not followed the work of the one person who has worked, and is working, to reform HOA laws. Of course, that person is Inger Garcia.
Teel is the "indumbent," and has done nothing for us - NOTHING.
If Teel is attending your HOA meetings, then she is violating Florida Law. She should know better, but then, she is the indumbent.

We have surveyed out membership, and very few support Teel. They see her as out of touch with their needs and too closly tied to the destruction of our golf courses. They don't hate her, but they will not support her.
Roberts' name is said with a HISSSS by our members. They remember how he refused to help. Roberts will not get our support.
Garcia has worked FOR US, with Julio Robaina. She has helped reform the Condo Laws as a private citizen. Where were the other pretenders when she was working for us?
The Galt Community STRONGLY supports Inger Garcia.
