Rynerson's Campaign Kick-Off

Yesterday's campaign kick-off, in a stark side room in the public library, devoid of any balloons, banners, not even the lonely appetizer, was a fitting metaphor for the Earl Rynerson Mayoral campaign's message -

cut the budget - slash the fat - bring down taxes!

                Rynerson

This is Rynerson's second effort at the mayoral post, coming in third in his first go round in 2009.

He has been roundly criticizing current Mayor Jack Seiler, and the city's budget since then, using his blog - a better ft. lauderdale

                Seiler

Rynerson said yesterday that he doesn't expect to be able to compete with Seiler in the conventional sense, so he is building his campaign on door to door canvessors, phone calls, his 11,000 e-mail addresses, and Social Media - Facebook and Twitter.

There were something less than 50 attendees at the kick-off, who listened intently as Rynerson went over a chart showing the City's budget over the last 10 years, drawing attention to the substantial overall budget increases during those years from 335 million in 2003 to 635 million this year.

Victoria Park residents ( Rynerson lives there) were the biggest contingent of the attendees, but there was a smattering of community leaders from some other neighborhoods in the city.

Unfortunately Rynerson is now using his "blog" as a vehicle for campaign messages, without the notices required by Florida campaign law. He's also sending out campaign emails without these notices.

I hope he has deep pockets. He's going to have some hefty fines in his future for each violation.

Someone else running for office recently left out the req. Fla. Sta. language on their upcoming event. It happens, it was an oversight, and hopefully they will not be fined either. I recall when Tim Smith ran for mayor. Don't know what the campaign budget was but guess Naugle had more money (??).
Does everyone running for elected office that gets elected have hordes of cash? We'll know soon enough. The city like the rest of the state may be doing just fine and all incumbents will be re-elected, although knocking anyone for running doesn't seem very democratic. Thanks Tim for a venue that will offer a fair look at the efforts of all.

I recently received an email from the Rynerson campaign that not only did not contain the "paid political advertisement" disclaimer required, but also failed to include the required disclaimer for fundraiser.

But the WORST part was that the email published my email address along with the email address for the other 99 people that received the email and made them available to everyone. Such unprofessionalism is not what I'm looking for in the leadership of Ft Lauderdale.

My vote is going to Rynerson, at least the guy can add three numbers together and unlike our present Leader, doesnt swear its adds up to something different ..Seiler is a runaway train who has his nose up the backsides of every Union official in this town. His tenure has proven to be more fluff than substance and when it comes nose to nose with gritty hard numbers, Seiler folds like a cheap suit. If all the above posters can do is take stabs at Rynersons "blog" about whether he crossed his t's and dotted his I's with a discalimer or not, You people really got to get a life and a hardcore look at the checks your precious Jack is writing.. Ya know after reading some post from a few who regularly visit here, I gotta ask myself "do some of you perpetually live in a Gone with the Wind" movie and will worry about it tommorrow as long as "good manners are maintained today? Oh and lets not leave out the "unspoken" aspect of Rynerson shall we? He is Gay, and God Forbid we elect someone who will make Ft. Lauderdale "more-gay" than it is now. Got news for ya, I dont care if the guy wears toe shoes to bed each night, I want my city fiscally responsible and accountable to those who pays the bills, Seiler isnt that guy..and you can talk yourself into something else all day long, but Seiler isnt that guy!
