Governor Jack ?

     The political world is talking.

The Florida Governors' race of 2014 is about to take off, and Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler will have to decide soon if he wants to be on that ride!

It's no secret that Seiler has been thinking about a return to Tallahassee, someday, but his plan has always been to serve in local politics until all his children go off to college, probably 2018.

But 2014 could be his year.

Current Governor Rick Scott is vulnerable. He has been an unpopular Governor, and the Democrats think this could be the year for them to retake the Governors' mansion. If another Democrat runs and wins the Governor job, he, or she,  would probably serve two terms until 2022, possibly too late for Seiler, as Seiler will term- limit out of the Mayor's seat in 2018.

                                        Governor Scott, Chief Adderley, Seiler

Seiler has been talking to party officials, and thinking a lot...

Seiler has been a popular Mayor, credited for calming the City after years of  flamboyant, outspoken, conservative Mayor Jim Naugle. Some call Seiler the "parade Mayor", as Seiler likes positive events, like the St. Patricks' Day Parade that he brought back to the City.

Seiler also pushed for more activities at the beach, downtown, and in the neighborhoods.

                                                          Jog with Jack event

Another consideration is whether Seiler could even win the Democratic primary for Governor. He has one of the biggest Democrat names in the State, but giant name Charlie Crist has become an independent, and some say is close to becoming a Democrat. If Crist decided to try and retake the Governors' post as a Democrat, he would certainly trounce Seiler in name recognition.

Geller - Seiler - Crist - Rubio - other bigshot

And if Seiler does take the shot at the Governors' seat, who will run for the Fort Lauderdale Mayor seat?

Many say most probably one Rodstrom or the other.

And lastly,  just for fun .....  when I was looking for good pictures of Jack Seiler for this post, I came across this picture of Jack Seiler on the internet, and would suggest he consider using it on some mailer or another if he does decide to take on the tough task of running for Governor  ............

That photo of "jack" funny. In all serousness I think this is a very(very) young photo of proud to be gay professional body builder yrs ago -Seatle's own Bob Paris. I 'm not sure. This guy in the picture got alot of exposure from this. I"ll
double check on who it really is(he also was in Oliva Newton's John -music video "lets get physical" He coul d be dead-if that is correct its not Bob Paris-oh well). As far as Mayor Seiler running for Gov. This has been circuateing for some time. I would think he would be a shoe in once Bill Nelson retires from the US Senate. I think the Mayor would be a perfect fit in Washington. I woul d think it would be easier. Go for another term as Mayor(you enjoy it). By then your chidren will all be in or out of College. I also think it would be very hard to pick up steam in conservative areas like Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, if he were to run for Gov. However Charlie Christ i s the one to watch. He picked up alot of steam @ the Demo' Convention(national). Charlie would easily defeat Rick scott. Now for the kicker maybe Jack is putting his name out there(State recongnition etc) and then possibly be Lt Gov for Charlie Christ. Now that is a winning team. Although Jack probably woul d not settle for secound best( i hear you) but goes to my original report that it would make more sense to run for US Senate. Now if Mayor Seiler decides to resighn etc. Who is to say Comm.Bruce Roberts would not throw hi s hat into the ring for Mayor, or you Tim Smith, besides Charlotte Rodstrom. I would concentrate on winning District 2 before you are thinking about being Mayor. What was the drama Tim w/ Dean trantalis yesterday(he qualfied a s of 1pm today, but he did not qualify as planned yesterday for his appointment(also to point out upon leaving City Hall ,after being there for almost 2hrs, did not look to happy-what was the issue.?? On th e other hand Lester Zalewski qualfied w/ no proplems(scary). Also Char Rodstrom qualfied today @ 11am -w/o proplem/incident. Chuck Black is up tomorrow-I belive. Its a shame that I have to choose to either go to the debate(CBA) or go to the a1a meeting @ the Beach center. Thats life. I wanted to do both. Impossible. Good luck to all canidates. I just wish the residents could have decided my fate(felony conviction from almost 20yrs ago-please). Not some overweight, overzealous, overpaid elections Off personal. (over90g). Oh well. Next time...

Is Robert Walsh now going by his drag name "Andreva Joy?"
Wow , that photo of Seiler is hot - might even make the gay community change its mind about this mayor who was so fearful to sign the marriage equality pledge that so many mayors in Broward and around the country signed. He's no leader and would get trounced statewide.

It will be interesting to watch Charlie the Chameleon woo voters. Who is running mate/Lt. Gov. will not matter in the least. and as obama brings fiscal happy days in the next year and unemployment below 4%, I am sure a dem will have a landslide election as Governor.

Can the Mayor get 4 blocks of A1A repaired and restored and how long will it take for him to do so? If this inconvenience requires a public meeting requesting citizens to bring "fix it" ideas, he will never be able to run the state all by himself. Especially if we have a hurricane or two in the same year (remember 2004 and 2005?)
